for you to choose the model that satisfies best your device&#8217;s charging needs.<\/p>\n<p>As you already know, <strong>a power bank can charge most electronic devices with a USB port<\/strong>: cellphone, tablet, iPad, bluetooth headset, ebook reader, fitness tracker, smartwatch\u2026 even an E-cigarette or a <a href=\"\/en\/laptop\/\">laptop<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, for the new generation cellphones, fast charging technologies (such as <strong>Quick Charge<\/strong> and\/or <strong>Power Delivery<\/strong>) are also available in the output ports (either <strong>USB-A<\/strong> or <strong>USB-C<\/strong>) in many power bank models, therefore, we can distinguish 2 different ways to charge our devices:<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e2e2e2;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#FCFCFC;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Standard Charge<\/strong>: the output voltage is always <strong>5V<\/strong>, this is the default charge offered by any power bank.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fast Charge<\/strong>: it works with a higher voltage superior to\u00a0<strong>5V<\/strong> (such as <strong>9V<\/strong> or <strong>12V<\/strong>) to supply more power to the device during the charging process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><em>Note: The power bank must be compatible with the fast charging protocol implemented on the connected device, otherwise, it will trigger the default charging mode at 5V.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Case study: charging a smartphone with a Power bank<\/h2>\n<p>The following image shows the technical specs of model <strong>PBD01<\/strong> by Tronsmart:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5147 size-full\" the <u>type of USB output ports<\/u>: <strong>USB-A<\/strong> and <strong>USB-C<\/strong>, the range of <u>charging tensions supported<\/u>: <strong>5V-12V<\/strong> and the <u>maximum current values (A) and power (W) supplied by each port<\/u>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>USB-A Output<\/strong>: DC 5-6V\/3A, 6-9V\/2A, 9-12V\/1.5A (18W)<\/li>\n<li><strong>USB-C PD Output<\/strong>: DC 5V\/3A, 9V\/2A, 12V\/1.5A (18W)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Note: although the type C port shows the Power Delivery protocol, we also verified that it supports Quick Charge 3.0.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That is, with this power bank, we can charge devices in both <strong>Standard Charge (5V)<\/strong> and <strong>QC 3.0\/PD Fast Charge<\/strong> through its 2 output ports: <strong>USB-A and USB-C<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Being that said, you may come up with the question:<\/p>\n<p><strong>What smartphones can we charge with this power bank?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s see some examples:<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-tabs su-tabs-style-default su-tabs-mobile-stack su-tabs-vertical\" data-active=\"1\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-tabs-nav\"><span class=\"\" data-anchor=\"google-pixel-3\" data-url=\"\" data-target=\"blank\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><strong>Google Pixel 3<\/strong><\/span><span class=\"\" data-anchor=\"xiaomi-mi-5\" data-url=\"\" data-target=\"blank\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><strong>Xiaomi Mi 5<\/strong><\/span><\/div><div class=\"su-tabs-panes\"><div class=\"su-tabs-pane su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" data-title=\"&lt;strong&gt;Google Pixel 3&lt;\/strong&gt;\">\n<p>The <strong>Google Pixel 3<\/strong> has a type C port and fast charging via the <strong>Power Delivery (PD)<\/strong> protocol only.<\/p>\n<p>If we connect Pixel 3 to port C of the Tronsmart Trim power bank, <strong>its Fast Charge system would be enabled<\/strong> (compatible with PD) and the Pixel 3 will charge in less time than Standard Charge mode.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, if we connect it to the USB-A port of the Tronsmart Trim (by using a USB-A to a USB-C cable), the Google Pixel 3 would charge at <strong>5V<\/strong> (<strong>Standard Charge<\/strong>) since this port is compatible with <strong>QC 3.0<\/strong> and the <strong>Google Pixel 3 doesn&#8217;t support Qualcomm Quick Charge protocol<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div class=\"su-tabs-pane su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" data-title=\"&lt;strong&gt;Xiaomi Mi 5&lt;\/strong&gt;\">\n<p>The <strong>Xiaomi Mi 5<\/strong> counts with a type C port and fast charging through the <strong>Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC 3.0) protoco<\/strong>l.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the Xiaomi Mi 5 may be plugged into the USB-A or the USB-C provided by Tronsmart Trim to be charged via QC 3.0.<\/p>\n<p>Logically, for the USB-C port, we would need a cable with a USB-C connection on both ends.<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"su-spoiler su-spoiler-style-fancy su-spoiler-icon-chevron su-spoiler-closed\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\" data-anchor-in-url=\"no\"><div class=\"su-spoiler-title\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"><span class=\"su-spoiler-icon\"><\/span><strong>If my smartphone charges at 1A, could the Power bank damage it?<\/strong><\/div><div class=\"su-spoiler-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>It will not damage your smartphone: <u>a power bank always provides the current that the connected device needs and, of course, that it can supply (depending on its specifications)<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>The current (A) that appears in the specifications of a power bank indicates <strong>the maximum current that the power bank can supply per port at a determined charging voltage (5V\/3A, 9V\/2A and
